Humberto finally emailed me a couple of pictures from YELLE!!! YAY!!!

Alright! So I've figured out how to do this whole phone to pc video thing! Its crappy as the audio from my phone sucks ass so I put Trisste and Mal Poli over it. It's not in sync, but I tried!

I am... deaf???

I caught the Dim Mak end of the silent disco at Detour because I was at the Mars Volta stage and missed Paul V's set. He said it was "Surreal - In a Marlee Matlin on "Dancing With The Stars" kind of way..."

I initially inteded to head over to the Bloody Beatroots stage and meet up with my EDC-minded friends, but the sight of people dancing to nothing, or so it seemed, intrigued me very much so. After waiting in line for what seemed eternity, I found myself dancing silly with strangers on the middle of the street with The Ting Tings shutting up and YELLE blaming the garcone.

As for the sound leak, there were none whatsoever; unless people singing out loud to "Build Me Up Butter Cup" counts. Yes the Dim Mak DJ played a ton of oldies and was I sad to have missed Paul V's dirty-electro a la 1031? YES! But being able to do a conga train with a bunch of eager-dancing strangers in the middle of the street was priceless.

It was cute. It was hilarious. It was amazing.

HAMMERed!

I've been going to INDIE 1031's free concerts at The Hammer Museum since high school. I guess it was one of those events that got me addicted to going shows and concerts. A ton of my favorite local bands came out of the Hammer. The Pity Party, The Little Ones, Castledoor, Low Vs. Diamond, The Deadly Syndrome, The Afternoons... just to name a few.

Feist at the Hollywood Bowl was probably the most feel good fun concert I have ever been to. Alix invited me along with Katie and Tiff for some ultimate nosebleed seats, and when nosebleed i mean like way up against the mountain nosebleed. Our little area was filled with wine drunk oldies eating and smoking and having a good time!
Pacifika and Sharon Jones opened for her and particularly, there was this wine soaked lady doing some dance aerobics to Sharon Jones. I was sad, and our whole riff raff area, when they took her away.

Feist opened with a song that was just so... beautiful and simple and powerful and the shadow artists she had throughout the show was amazing! I mean it was so simple and ghetto tech, but it was so beautiful.

A Field of Drums and Fireworks

"It's so fucking beautiful"

Rilo Kiley at the Greek is probably my first ever legit concert as it was at an actual ginormous stage! Of course, being it so legit, meaning ridonkalous tickets, Lin and I were surely in the nosebleed section!

We were next to these older guys who are new fans because of Sarah Silverman's stint with Jenny Lewis and The Watson Twins. They were really cool and old! hahaha! Actually, I think we wer the only young ones on their row. So when Lin and I started dancing and singing, they thought it was another side show!Align Center

Blake Sennet was so adorable and I inapropriately heckled him the whole time. Then a fish came out throwing balloons and such. Which reminds me, Lavander Diamond opened for them and man... that girl is.... woooooooooooooooooooo!

Grand Ole Party

I first heard about GOP through Rilo Kiley as they had opened for them at SAMO, so when I found out Kristin was having a free show at Fingerprints, I decided to kidnap Selma and Lin for the ride, regardless of a list. I got us in just fine. Natass arrived superfulously much later on the free LB transit! The place was so tiny and packed and dark! I love it!

Kristin was amazing! I mean seriously... drums and sing! Karen Carpenter much!
